Gutter Installation Cost in Colorado Springs (2026): 5" vs 6", Aluminum vs Steel vs Copper, Guards, Downspouts and Heat Cable

Every number here is a typical range from a published cost guide, not a quote. What each line means, why the sources disagree, and what moves the price on a Colorado Springs house.

Gutters are priced by the linear foot, and that explains most of the confusion. A 5-inch aluminum run on a one-story ranch in Security-Widefield and a 6-inch steel system on a two-story in Flying Horse are both "gutters," but they sit at opposite ends of every band below. This guide takes the table from our cost page line by line and lists what pushes a Colorado Springs quote toward the top or bottom of it. No local gutter company publishes prices, so the sources are national cost guides plus one Colorado Springs directory.

Seamless aluminum: why the two national guides disagree

Aluminum is the default material here because it does not rust, takes a baked-on color and comes off a truck-mounted machine in one piece per run. HomeAdvisor's seamless-gutter guide, updated June 2026, puts installed aluminum at $4 to $9 per foot; Fixr's January 2025 guide says $7 to $13. The $3 gap at the low end reflects what each guide folds into "installed": Fixr leans toward full replacement jobs, which it says cost "several hundred dollars more" than hanging gutters on a bare fascia. The Colorado Springs directory's $5.80 to $10.20 per foot (April 2025) lands between them; treat it as one directory's estimate, built from company feedback without a published sample size.

Within the band, gauge matters: thicker coil costs more and resists dents better, which counts in a county that issued 34,000 re-roof permits after the July 28, 2016 hailstorm. Ask which gauge the quote assumes.

Steel and copper

Galvanized or galvalume steel runs about $7 to $12 per foot. It is stiffer than aluminum, which is why it comes up for the Palmer Divide towns: Monument's NOAA 1991–2020 normal is 121.1 inches of snow a year against 32.5 at the Colorado Springs airport. Copper, at $15 to $32 per foot, is a design choice more than a performance one; the two guides disagree by $7 at the top of the range, so expect copper quotes to vary widely.

5-inch vs 6-inch: the $3-to-$5 question

Six-inch K-style gutters carry more water, and HomeAdvisor prices them at "$3 to $5 more per linear foot than 5-inch." On 200 feet that is $600 to $1,000, and the case for spending it is the local rain pattern. The airport's 1991–2020 normals show only 15.91 inches of precipitation a year, but 36.8 days with 0.10 inch or more, and 12.8 of those days fall in July and August. The National Weather Service in Pueblo describes the monsoon as "slow moving thunderstorms that produce prodigious amounts of lightning, torrential rainfall, and flash flooding," with the common thread in flash-flood events being "sustained (20 minutes or more), 2-3+ inch/hour rain rates." A gutter sized for annual rainfall is the wrong gutter here; it should be sized for the 20-minute burst, and large roof planes draining to one corner are the usual tipping point. See the seamless gutter installation page for how width and downspout count are worked out.

Whole-home totals

For about 200 feet of aluminum, the sources spread from roughly $1,200 to $4,200. HomeAdvisor's national seamless average is $1,228 with a typical range of $658 to $1,798; Fixr's whole-home figure averages $3,223 and typically runs $2,320 to $4,222; the Colorado Springs directory's 200-foot line is $1,160 to $2,030 excluding guards. A quote near the top of that spread is not automatically padded: two stories, many corners, fascia repairs and removal all belong in the total, which is why an itemized quote matters more than the bottom line.

Gutter guards

HomeAdvisor prices installed guards at $6 to $13 per foot, averaging about $9, and premium branded micro-mesh or reverse-curve systems at $15 to $45 per foot. The Colorado Springs directory's guard range is lower, at $3.20 to $8.70, and a 2025 This Old House survey put the national average near $16 per foot, so guard pricing depends almost entirely on the product. Pine-needle areas such as Black Forest, Woodmoor and Woodland Park push toward micro-mesh, the top of the non-branded band. Details are on the gutter guards page.

Downspouts, extensions and splash blocks

Downspouts are usually priced separately: Fixr's example works out to about $190 each for a 12-foot painted aluminum run, or $7 to $14 per foot. Extensions add $2 to $17 each and splash blocks roughly $6 to $85. Those small items matter here because the Colorado Geological Survey says downspout water "should be discharged no closer than 5 feet from the foundation" on the region's expansive clay soils. Our downspout and expansive-soil guide explains why, and the downspouts and drainage page covers the options.

Heat cable

A heat-cable or ice-dam system typically costs $900 to $1,800 installed, with small jobs from about $500; the cable alone is $1 to $5 per foot, and HomeAdvisor estimates $40 to $200 or more a month in electricity while it runs. The airport records 159.7 nights a year at or below 32°F and March is the snowiest month at 5.7 inches, so the freeze-thaw window is long, and above 7,000 feet, where PPRBD requires an ice barrier on re-roofs, heat cable is a common add-on. See the heat tape and ice dams page.

Repair and removal

Gutter repair averages about $400, with a typical range of $194 to $643 and resealing a seam from about $100. HomeAdvisor's height tiers are $170 for one story, $330 for two and $500 for three or more; fascia repair adds about $10 per foot. Removing and disposing of old gutters adds roughly $100 plus $1.30 to $2.40 per foot. Repair-versus-replace is covered on the gutter repair page.

What changes the price in Colorado Springs

  • Linear feet and corners. Every inside and outside miter is hand-sealed; a cut-up roofline costs more per foot than a simple rectangle.
  • Height and access. Two-story work and steep west-side lots add labor.
  • Fascia condition. Rotted or hail-split fascia is repaired before new gutters go up, at about $10 per foot.
  • Season. The Rocky Mountain Insurance Information Association puts the Front Range hail season at mid-April to mid-August with "about three or four catastrophic hailstorms." After a big one, roofing and gutter demand spikes; spring and fall are the quieter, dry-ground windows.

Frequently asked questions

How much does gutter installation cost per foot in Colorado Springs?

Seamless aluminum, the common choice, runs about $4 to $9 per linear foot installed in HomeAdvisor's 2026 guide and $7 to $13 in Fixr's 2025 guide; one Colorado Springs cost directory listed $5.80 to $10.20 per foot in April 2025. Steel runs about $7 to $12 and copper $15 to $32. These are typical ranges from cost guides, not quotes; a written, itemized quote from a local company is the real number.

Are 6-inch gutters worth the extra cost in Colorado Springs?

Six-inch K-style gutters cost about $3 to $5 more per foot than 5-inch. Colorado Springs gets 36.8 days a year with 0.10 inch or more of precipitation, and 12.8 of them fall in July and August, when the National Weather Service in Pueblo says flash-flood-producing storms sustain 2 to 3 inch-per-hour rain rates. Ask for a quote both ways and compare the difference against your roof's size and pitch.

Does gutter installation include downspouts and removal of the old gutters?

Not always, so ask. Cost guides price downspouts separately at about $190 each for a 12-foot painted aluminum run, or $7 to $14 per foot, with extensions $2 to $17 each. Removing and hauling away old gutters adds about $100 plus $1.30 to $2.40 per foot. A written, itemized quote should list gutter footage, downspout count, extensions, removal and disposal as separate lines so you can compare companies fairly.
